Colorbond® Calculator Tips & Tricks

The following information is provided to assist you in using the Colorbond® Steel Fencing Calculator tool effectively. If you have any further questions or require additional guidance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our knowledgeable team for assistance.

For installation tips, visit our Install Considerations.

Gates Placed At The End Of A Run

When using the online Colorbond® Steel Fencing Calculator tool, please note that gates are placed at the end of a run. All gates are calculated with appropriate SHS gate posts either side of the gate and can be installed between any panel in your run.  Ensure you consider this when configuring your project to achieve accurate measurements and desired results.

Panels Can Be Cut Down

The sheets/rails used in the Colorbond® Steel Fencing Calculator tool may need to be cut down to fit specific measurements. Please refer to the Colorbond Installation Guide. On your plan, panels that require to be cut down will be indicated with a:

Concrete Requirements

To ensure structural stability, we recommend using two bags of concrete per post hole during the installation process. If you require more, you can add more on 'Step 3: Finishing Touches' of the Calculator.

Irregular Build / Site Plan

If your fencing project is irregular in shape, please consider configuring each run individually using the Single Run function on the Colorbond® Steel Fencing Calculator tool. Please note that in some cases, you may need to remove end posts or other items from your cart to accommodate the irregularities of your project.

Colour Limitations in Runs

Our Colorbond® Steel Fencing Calculator allows you to choose your specific colour for frame and infill colours. When selecting panels, please be aware that all standard panels chosen will be the same colour. Similarly, all Breezeway/Lattice/Slat FX panels selected will have a consistent colour throughout the project. If you require runs with different colours, configure them individually using the Single Run function on the Colorbond® Steel Fencing Calculator tool.

Timber Sleepers

For optimum durability and longevity, we recommend Aluminium Sleepers as an alternative to Timber Sleepers.

The Colorbond® Steel Fencing Calculator does not accommodate for Timber Sleepers. If you desire Timber Sleepers, you can Add them to the Cart afterwards. Please note, you'll need to add longer posts which can be selected in the Calculator tool. This will only allow for one Timber Sleeper beneath each panel. If you require more than one Timber Sleeper beneath your panels, you'll need to substitute to the next post size up in your Cart.

Raked Panels

To accommodate raked panels that require longer sheets than standard panels:

Determine the degree of slope or rake on your land over the length of the panels. If the rake is more than 150mm over a 2400mm panel length (approximately 4 degrees), longer rails will be necessary.

Although our Calculator doesn't currently account for this specific requirement, you can manually adjust your order by substituting the standard panel sheets/rails in your cart with longer ones if needed.
